Unlocking Accessibility and Inclusion

Did you know that in Australia, approximately 4.4 million people – 18% of the population – are living with a disability? At MMS, we recognise the profound impact that accessibility and inclusion can have on individuals and communities, and we are committed to driving positive change.

While our connection to people with disabilities is evident through our Plan Partners and Plan Tracker businesses, we believe that accessibility is not solely the concern of specific divisions within our organisation. It's a collective responsibility that touches the lives of our employees, customers, and stakeholders across the entire MMS Group.

During our recent Employee Engagement Survey, we discovered that 3% of our MMS workforce identifies as people living with a disability. This insight reinforces our belief that we must proactively address accessibility and inclusion to foster a supportive and diverse workplace.

At MMS, our vision extends beyond mere compliance with regulations. We aspire to revolutionise the way we think about disability, warmly welcoming individuals with disabilities into our business and affording them equal opportunities to thrive.

This commitment is the driving force behind our Accessibility and Inclusion Plan (AIP). The AIP represents a comprehensive, organisation-wide initiative aimed at eliminating practices that could discriminate against individuals with disabilities, fostering a culture of accessibility and inclusivity.

The AIP casts a discerning eye over every facet of our business operations, from our human resources practices to marketing, operations, and stakeholder engagement. Its goal is to identify and remove barriers that may hinder access to our products, services, and workplaces for our employees and customers living with disabilities.

Our ambition is to create a disability-confident organisation where employees with disabilities feel a genuine sense of belonging. Simultaneously, we aim to equip every member of our team with the knowledge and tools to support customers with accessibility needs effectively.

Our Accessibility and Inclusion Plan was officially launched in June 2022, marking a pivotal step in our ongoing commitment to making MMS an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

In alignment with our broader company purpose and sustainability goals, the AIP underscores our dedication to creating positive social and community-focused outcomes. It aligns with the principles of the Australian Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and equivalent legislation in countries where we operate. We also acknowledge the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities and extend our recognition to their families, nominees, service providers, and respective communities.

Our holistic approach to embedding accessibility into our business seeks to create a culture characterised by belonging, safety, dignity, and respect for people living with disabilities. By designing our products and services with inclusivity as a central consideration, we endeavour to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities.

Recognising that our journey toward enhanced accessibility is one of continuous improvement, our inaugural plan establishes a solid foundation. It encompasses governance and policy enhancements, delineates our sphere of influence, and prioritises disability awareness throughout our leadership and workforce.

Join us on this transformational journey as we work collaboratively to unlock a world that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and accessibility for all.
