In your full time permanent Senior Financial Accountant role, you will be accountable for supporting financial reporting to stakeholders including external regulators, internal business unit management and external audit relationships through strong balance sheet management, financial control and governance activities across the MMS businesses.
You will perform month end accounting, including journal processing and the review and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, including documentation of the accounting judgements applied to the treatment of various business transactions and resulting accounting impacts.
You will contribute to technical accounting advice and ensure the correct financial processing that supports day to day financial management for the respective MMS businesses is undertaken in the general ledger, and conduct intercompany transaction management and contribute to capital management and treasury and banking operations.
You will recommend improvements to financial control and reporting frameworks and processes to support the efficient and effective preparation of financial statements for the MMS Group and its subsidiaries.
To accomplish this, the Senior Financial Accountant Role will have the following key responsibilities:
- Ensuring MMS meets all its financial regulatory compliance requirements for its Group and Subsidiary entities on a timely basis.
- Ensuring that MMS financial statements disclosures and preparation satisfies all accounting standards and guidance, and is also best practice.
- Month end close accounting procedures and completion and review of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including proactive follow up on aged balances and/or reconciling variances.
- Providing relevant analysis and commentary regarding statutory results to support other financial reporting requirements and internal performance management .
- Provide (or support the provision of) technical accounting advice to business unit management and senior leaders to ensure impacts of business transactions are clear and properly processed.
- Review the analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information.
- Involvement or assistance with ad hoc finance or business projects as required.
- Be a key contact for external and internal audit processes.
- Continually develop and enhance reporting systems and processes for an efficient financial control and governance process.
- Be an active mentor/coach, train and develop team members.
You will bring:
- Commitment and proven ability to provide a high level of customer service
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with business managers and other senior leaders
- Strong attention to detail, and reviews work to ensure completeness and accuracy of analysis, outputs and information provided to stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, proficient in Excel, and Word.
- Leadership and coaching/mentoring of financial accounting team members
- At least 3-5 years Financial reporting and Accounting experience post CA/CPA qualification in a corporate or professional services environment
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including the application of IFRS, and relevant legislation as relevant to MMS businesses
- Knowledge of financial reporting and operational processes and accounting systems/applications.
- Experience with general ledger applications including JD Edwards (desired).
- Relevant accounting qualification from membership of professional Accounting bodies (CA ANZ, CPA)
- Other relevant qualifications of industry bodies/institutions.
